Recovery is not just about clinical treatment, it’s about connection, trust, and the belief that change is possible. Through our Peer Support program, trained and certified peer recovery supporters provide advocacy, mentoring, life skills education, and connection to community resources.
Why Peer Support Works
Peer support is a nationally recognized, evidence-based practice proven to enhance recovery outcomes across substance use and mental health populations. Studies show that individuals who work with peer supporters are more likely to stay engaged in treatment, maintain sobriety, and achieve personal goals.
Peer support helps by:
- Offering hope by modeling the reality of sustained recovery
- Reducing isolation and stigma through shared experience
- Encouraging active participation in treatment
- Building trust, especially among individuals hesitant to engage in traditional services
- Supporting transitions from incarceration, inpatient care, or crisis episodes into stable, community-based living
How it Works at Anchor:
Our certified Peer Recovery Supporters are individuals in long-term recovery who use their lived experience to walk alongside those currently struggling with addiction and mental health challenges. They understand firsthand the fear, the setbacks, and the courage it takes to rebuild your life, and they offer support grounded in empathy, not judgment.
